Kellie McCormick, ASID, Principal at McCormick & Wright is the creative force and team leader of this great group of designers and staff.  She recognizes that every client has unique design concerns and enjoys working with them to develop solutions that fit their needs. Kellie served on the Board of Directors for ASID San Diego as Communications Director and as President. Kellie has also served as Chair of the ASID National Brand Council. For several years, Kellie was an interior design lecturer at her alma mater, San Diego State University. In her spare time Kellie enjoys spending time outdoors with her family as well as planting and harvesting lots of fresh vegetables in her urban garden.

Jason York, ASID, LEED AP, is a graduate of the Art Institute of Houston. He began his career working with many of the top designers of Houston on high-end residential projects. Jason moved to San Diego to further his career, and what he found was an inspiring and creative community with a strong friendship with design and art. He has been an important part of the McCormick & Wright team for over 10 years and his passion for design and the built environment propels him to reach new heights – his attention to detail is impeccable. His exquisite designs can be seen on several of the projects highlighted on our website’s portfolio pages.

Senior Interior Designer

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Kate Lindberg, ASID, has been exposed to diverse cultures and various forms of art.  With a passion for design, she moved to San Diego to attend the art program at San Diego State University.  Upon graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Art, emphasis Interior Design, she started working for McCormick & Wright, as an interior designer and has been an important team member for over 10 years.  Kate’s fine eye for design shines through on several of the projects featured on our website’s portfolio pages.  Kate thrives in a team-oriented environment, seeks inspiration from travel and nature, and enjoys the many facets of art and design.  Her creativity continues with her interests in fashion and time spent with her cooking club.


Gabrielle Shank, Allied ASID

With a lifelong passion and love for both design and California, Gabrielle Shank, Allied ASID, left her home State of Iowa to study Interior Design at San Diego State University. After interning for McCormick and Wright and upon graduation, she happily accepted a position as an interior designer. Gabrielle is excited to work with and learn from an exceptional team of designers. In her free time, Gabrielle enjoys floral design, traveling, spending time at the beach and exploring the beautiful city of San Diego with family and friends.

Jared Zaro, Allied ASID, moved to San Diego to attend Design Institute of San Diego. Following his graduation, he began his professional career at a local high-end design firm, forging connections with local craftsmen and artisans who could bring to life his passion for design.  He joined the team of designers at McCormick & Wright in November 2016, and continues to keep up-to-date on the latest trends and styles and to research new resources for our clients.   In his spare time, he loves to travel and enjoys entertaining family and friends at his beach bungalow.

Interior Design Assistant

After changing her major from psychology to interior design, Alexandria moved from her hometown of Riverside to pursue her passion for art and design at San Diego State University. During her second year in their interior design program, she accepted an internship with McCormick & Wright and within six months, we offered her a permanent position as a design assistant. Alexandria will graduate in December 2017, and in what little free time she has between work and school, she enjoy spending time in nature, crafts and napping with her cat, Sonny.

Growing up as the son of a Jeweler Darren has always had a grounded appreciation for aesthetics. After graduating from San Diego State University with a degree in finance, Darren worked in the Financial Services industry before joining our team. With him, he brings a wealth of accounting and financial knowledge accompanied with a rich enthusiasm for the design industry. In his Leisure Darren enjoys exploring the outdoors and building furniture for his home.

Robert Wright, FASID, now retired, is co-founder of McCormick & Wright. He is a true advocate for the profession and interior design education and realizes interior design contributes significantly towards the quality and well being of our lives. Robert was honored by San Diego Magazine by awarding him as recipient of “Who’s Hot? 50 San Diegans to Watch in 2005.” He is a Fellow of the American Society of Interior Designers and served as the Society’s National President in 2005-2006, and he served for six years on the board of CIDA, the Council for Interior Design Accreditation.   Robert was the recipient of the 2013 ASID Designer of Distinction Award. This award is the highest national award presented to an ASID member acknowledging one’s career, body of work, and contribution to the interior design profession.  Robert enjoys the arts, music, and culture that San Diego has to offer and spending time at his desert weekend home.


Jan Bast, FASID

Jan Bast is a co-founder of Bast/Wright Interiors, now McCormick & Wright. She retired from the firm in 2001 to focus on interior design education at Design Institute of San Diego. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Interior Designers. She has served as president of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification, and currently volunteers as a site visitor for CIDA, The Council for Interior Design Accreditation. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, especially cruises.
